When you practice martial arts or boxing, a jab is one of the first punches that you learn how to throw, and even though it is not considered a very strong punch it may be the one that you use more often. Usually if you are right handed it will be more natural to throw a left punch and vice versa if you are left handed then it will be easier to throw a right jab.
The following are instructions for a right jab.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gloves
  • Mouthpiece
  • Head piece
  • Chest protector
  • Shins
  1. Step 1

Position yourself with your left foot ahead of you but not too much so you do not lose balance.

  2. Step 2

Next position yourself with your elbows close to your chest, so that you are ready to defend and your right arm a little higher than the other one.

  3. Step 3

Raise your left foot enough to push yourself ahead and give you power with out losing balance.

  4. Step 4

As you are stepping forward to reach almost full extension, rotate your fist over to punch.

  5. Step 5

Pull the punch immediately back and pull your chin down so you can protect your shoulder.

Tips & Warnings
