      Access IRS.gov. Click the link on the left side, "Check on your Refund."

      Click the "Where's My Refund?" link on the next page. Scan the required fields and make sure you have the information the IRS requires to check your return's status: Social Security number, filing status and refund amount.

      Enter all the information and click "Submit." You will now receive your refund's status. The IRS will inform you whether your return was accepted and when you can expect to receive your refund, whether via mail or direct deposit.

      Contact the IRS at 800-829-1954 if you lack Internet access. You will have to provide the same information to learn your refund status.

  • Do not contact the IRS to follow up on your refund until after the given date has passed.

  • If the IRS website indicates information is missing, provide it immediately so the processing of your return can continue unhindered.
