Yahoo Maps With Live Traffic Reports

Yahoo Maps has teamed up with TrafficCast to provide a new feature that adds real-time, live traffic reports and other information to online route maps. The feature is available for most major cities. Now you can not only find out the best way to get to where you're going, but you can see the best way NOT to go as well. Here's how to find real time traffic maps and traffic updates in your area.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Head to maps.yahoo.com

Enter a city and state name, or an actual address you want to see on a map. To show an entire To & From route on your map, just add the starting and ending destinations.

  2. Step 2

The initial map that opens up will show a typical map view, with roads and landmarks, but no hint as to which roads might be congested at the moment.

  3. Step 3
    Live Traffic Map Button

Look for the Live Traffic option at the top of the map. If it's there (and it will be for most large cities), click it for live traffic information.

  4. Step 4

The maps will show roadways marked green for clear, yellow for congested, and red for better not go that way. The map will also identify incidents such as construction or accidents.

  5. Step 5

Pretty cool, eh? Be sure to check out 'Related Article' and 'More Articles Like This' elsewhere on this page for more travel tips.

Tips & Warnings
  • Of course, nothing' s quite as excellent as having a talking GPS right in your car, but this is something, anyway.
