Things You'll Need:
- Poster board
- Tissue paper white
- Tissue paper yellow
- Tissue paper black
- Paper mache medium for ease I use liquid starch but a flour water mixture works as well.
-
Step 1
2 circles and 1 long stripCut out 2 circles of the size you like ( 9" diameter works well). Cake pans and plates make good circles to trace around. Then cut out a long 3 " wide strip ( or tape two strips together) That is 3 1/2 times your circle size. ( So if your circle is 9" wide your strip will be 31 1/2 " long.)
-
Step 2
Put tape along the edge of one side of the strip.
Hot glue a loop of plastic to the inside of one of the circles. Zip ties work well. So do the tops of metal hangers from dry cleaners just bend the wire down and glue the whole thing. This should be the top of your circle. -
Step 3
Attach strip to one of the circles. Where the strip meets itself would be the bottom of the circle opposite from the hook you glued in. Then putting the tape on the circle first this time attach second circle to the strip. You should now have a cylindrical box. Cut a Two inch opening flap out of the side where the ends of the strip meet.
-
Step 4
Pour a small amount of paper mache medium ( I use liquid starch) in a shallow container to about 1/2 " deep. Rip pieces of white tissue paper and cover your cylinder form all over about 5 layers thick. Don't be afraid to use long strips around the edge. And try to use a large smooth piece for the front. Warning: Do Not Cover Your Opening Flap! Let Dry Over Night.
-
Step 5
Repeat the paper mache process but this time in yellow. You Don't need as many layers this time. Cut out Smiley Face details from Black Tissue paper and simple paper mache them on. Let Dry Overnight.
-
Step 6
Add Candy or prizes through your flap tape it shut and now glue on yellow tissue paper to cover the tape. Tada! You are done
