Clary Sage essential oil is reported to have a two fold effect on premenstrual syndrome, commonly known as PMS. It is known to relieve both the mental and physical symptoms of PMS. Renowned for its uplifting aroma, clary sage essential oil helps clear depression, and anxiety that are associated with PMS. Due to its estrogenic properties, clary sage essential oil helps with hormone balance, and relieves the physical symptoms of PMS like insomnia, water retention and cramping.

Things You'll Need:

  • Clary sage essential oil.
  1. Step 1

    Choose a brand from a reputed company to wholly benefit from clary sage essential oil. Use a premium quality 100% essential oil that is made from the flowering tops of organic plants, using a low heat steam distillation process.

  2. Step 2

    Make a massage oil using clary sage essential oil in a base oil like almond or grapeseed oil. Gently massage around the abdominal area to relieve cramping and water retention associated with PMS. See the resource section for a massage oil recipe to help with Dysmenorrhea or painful periods.

  3. Step 3

    Make a room freshening spray using water mixed with a few drops of clary sage, and lavender essential oils. Use it in your office space to bring back clarity and focus to work when PMS related fogginess threatens to engulf, or spray your bedroom to calm anxious nerves before going to bed.

  4. Step 4

    Soak in a warm bath that has a few drops of clary sage essential oil, and some Epsom salts for relief from PMS related cramping, and insomnia. Clary sage is said to have dream enhancing, and relaxing properties that promote the quality of REM sleep.
