1. Consider starting a very small business you can do on the side to bring in extra money. You could have a vending machine or two, tutor kids, open an eBay store or sell things at your local farmer's market. None of these things preclude your having a day job, but they will bring in extra money.

People are looking for bargains, so it is an excellent time to have one. Sell it for a couple of hundred dollars on eBay. The same goes for tools that don't get much use and other items that can raise more than a few dollars.

4. There are part-time jobs that you can get that don't interfere with regular work hours. You could deliver newspapers or pizzas. You could clean office buildings at night. These may not be glamorous jobs, but they are ways that certainly bring in extra money.
