Making a catnip mouse toy for your kitty to play with is fairly simple and creative. Cats love to play and watching them try to get the catnip out of this toy is a lot of fun. They will jump and play with their new toy for hours.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • light tan or brown felt square
  • catnip
  • black marker
  • sheet of typing paper
  • bright colored yarn
  • tape
  • scissors
  • thread
  • needle
  1. Step 1

Using the black marker and your imagination draw a mouse shape on the paper about 4 inches long from one end to the other. It can have a fat tummy or a slim one.

  2. Step 2

Cut out this paper shape. Fold the felt in half tape shape on felt and cut out around the paper shape with scissors. You should have two pieces of felt .

  3. Step 3

Line the pieces up together. Sew around 1/8 inch from the edges of the shape with the thread by hand using very small stitches leaving a 1/2 inch opening.

  4. Step 4

Stuff the mouse with some catnip and sew up the opening. Draw dot eyes and pointy ears on the mouse face. Cut yarn into 9 strands 1 1/2 inch each strand. Sew 4 strands on each side of the mouse face for whiskers and 1 on very end of the mouse back for a tail.

  5. Step 5

Have a good time and enjoy playing with your kitty cat!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use more than one color yarn to make a more alluring mouse
