There's nothing more upsetting to a parent then a sick child. A sick newborn though, can send even the most laid back parent into over-drive. Try these simple tips to make your newborn and you feel better.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To help with congestion try putting a humidifier in your babies room. If you do not have a humidifier you can soothe your baby by taking them into the bathroom and running the shower to create a humid environment.

  2. Step 2

Not every baby gets sick during the day. In fact most don't. So what do you do with a stuffy baby and no Little Noses saline spray? You make your own. Simply mix 1/4 teaspoon of regular old table salt with 8 ounces of water, and instant saline. Use an old eye dropper to insert the saline into your child's nostrils, and use the suction bulb to suck out the moistened secretions.

  3. Step 3

If you smoke, STOP! If you can't stop, then wear a "smoking jacket". Have a specific jacket or shirt sat aside to put on yourself when you go out to smoke. As soon as you re-enter the house, remove the jacket. Don't forget to wash your hands to remove the cigarette residue, and don't forget your face as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always remember though, if your newborn appears to have any type of breathing problems, skip steps 1 through 3 and immediately seek medical treatment.
