There are lots of gift ideas for Valentine's Day that are non-fattening and inexpensive. Here are a few for you to consider.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

GIVE FLOWERS. But instead of having them delivered, pick out an inexpensive assortment at the supermarket. They will be just as pretty and mean even more, because you picked them out and delivered them yourself. And never underestimate the impact of a single red rose.

  2. Step 2

SAY IT WITH QUOTES. One of the best ways to show your love you care is to tell him or her. If you're at a loss for words, why not borrow from someone else? Check your local bookstore to find one of the many excellent books of quotations. A quick Internet search will turn up some excellent sites with quotations, including romantic ones perfect for Valentine's Day. (See link under "Resource" below.)

  3. Step 3

WRITE IT BIG. If you live near the beach or up north, use the vast canvas that's available to you to proclaim your love. Write "I Love You" in gigantic letters with your beloved's name included in the sand or snow. Then take your sweetheart to see it. Or snap a picture and make it the centerpiece of a homemade Valentine's Day card. This is a great inexpensive, non-fattening Valentine's Day gift idea!

  4. Step 4

THINK OUTSIDE THE CHOCOLATE BOX. For inspiration, spend a few minutes on the computer. You'll find lots of unconventional gift ideas, such as super sized t-shirts that two can fit into, mittens that are big enough for two (so you can hold hands), and heart-shaped sunglasses. (See link under "Resources" below.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep a notebook or file of ideas throughout the year, so you'll have plenty of gift options for next Valentine's Day and other gift-giving occasions.
  • Never apologize for giving a simple or inexpensive gift. They are often the best kind.
