Have you ever hosted a cookie exchange? It is very easy and so much fun! Christmastime is a great time to host one, but really, they are great all year round! Any time you need an excuse to get together with friends, host a cookie exchange!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, invite some friends. I like to use evite.com to send out invites. It is free and it is a great way to keep up with your RSVP's. If you request it, they will email you when you got a response! It you opt not to get the emails, you can log into your (free) account anytime to check on them.
When your guests RSVP, be sure to have them tell you what type of cookie they will be baking. You want to try and steer clear of doubles.

  2. Step 2

Get a head count of guests coming at least 1 week before the party. You will need to email everyone with the number of cookies thay need to bring and you want to give them plenty of time to prepare.

  3. Step 3

I have each guest bring 1/2 dozen cookies for each person attending the party and 1 plate of 12 cookies to eat!
Example: if you have 5 people come to the party, (there will be 6 including you)have each guest bring 5 sets of 5 cookies for a total of 25 cookies and a plate of 12 for a grand total of 37 cookies.

  4. Step 4

Serve your guests coffee, hot chocolate and hot teas to go with their cookies! Have light music playing softly in the background, it keeps things comfortable.

  5. Step 5

I also have games to play at the party! I purchase prizes to give away to the winners and make sure everyone ends up with a gift. A good way to be sure of that is to do a white elephant game at the end of the party and you (the host) supply the gifts for the game! It is so much fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • Invite your friends
  • Make sure there are no doubles in cookie flavors
  • Make your guests comfortable
  • Have fun!
  • Be sure your guests know to bring their cookies packaged to give away (in separate packaging for each person)

on 1/29/2009 This sounds fun. I think I would have everyone bring copies of the recipes as well. Five stars.

on 1/28/2009 The cookie monster has nothing on me! This could make for a great "singles" get together at church! I'll have to suggest this. Anyone in Atlanta want to get one of these started?
