Make a Simple Paper Airplane Quickly

Let's face it...sometimes you need a paper airplane at your disposal, and you need one fast. There is simply no time to take aesthetics or aerodynamics into account. Maybe someone threw a spitball at you, and you need something to throw back at them. Maybe you need to convey a written proclamation of love to a fair maiden across the room, your chances with whom you have estimated at an optimistic 17%. Whatever your reason, this article shows you how to make a simple paper airplane quickly, using a letter-sized sheet of paper and a few simple folds.

Instructions

    • 1

Start by folding a sheet of letter-sized paper in half lengthwise.

    • 2

Unfold it, then fold each lower corner up to meet the center line. Try to do this neatly so that it forms a nice point.

    • 3

Maintaining those folds, fold each side up to meet the center line, again trying to keep a nice point at the bottom.

    • 4

Maintain that fold, and yet once more, but for the final time, fold each side up to meet the center line. Press down on all the creases that you have made, and try to shape the point as best as you can.

    • 5

Bend your almost-finished paper flying machine back along the center crease, and press down to sharpen all creases. Again, do what you can to make a nice point, and to ensure that your plane is as symmetrical as possible.

    • 6

Your airplane is all but done! If time permits, decorate it as you see fit. Consider making up an obscure and fictitious airline name such as "Chelonian Airways," and write it on the wings. If desired, decorate your plane using something silly like glitter and little stickers of cartoonish turtles.

    • 7

Pull the wings out, and bend them back a bit so that they are level.

    • 8

Grip your plane under the wings about 1/3 of the way the back from the nose. Hold it so that the wings are parallel to the ground.

    • 9

Take a brief moment to acknowledge the courage and ingenuity of the Wright Brothers, without whom this article would be nothing but laughably absurd science fiction.

    • 10

Discreetly aim your plane at your target while trying to avoid detection and arousing suspicion. With a smooth arm motion, throw and release, remembering to follow through. Your airplane should fly fast and far, hopefully hitting the intended body part of your target. Congratulations! You now know how to make and use a quick and easy paper airplane. Have fun! ☺

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful to not poke anyone's eye out with your airplane. If you do, they will probably be really mad at you for the foreseeable future. But seriously, be careful. Aim for their midsection--that's funnier anyway.

Love this. There are paper airplanes every where here. I can't move furniture without finding one.
