Making a roast turkey dinner in the crockpot is an easy way to have a savory, satisfying dinner. A family size crockpot will hold a 6-7 pound turkey breast. Add a side vegetable, a salad, and some crisp bread, and you'll have a dinner to remember. This dinner will serve up to six people.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Turkey breast roast, up to 7 pounds
  • One teaspoon of each herb: marjoram, sage, and oregano for rubbing
  • Salt and pepper
  • Butter
  • 4 Potatoes
  1. Step 1

Wash and rinse the potatoes. Place up to four medium sized potatoes in the bottom of the crock pot.

  2. Step 2

Wash and rinse the turkey breast, following safe handling guidelines.

  3. Step 3

Rub butter over the breast, then sprinkle salt and pepper on it.

  4. Step 4

Mix a teaspoon of each herb together and rub into the turkey breast.

  5. Step 5

Place the turkey breast in the crockpot, skin side up. If the crockpot lid doesn't close completely, cover the lid with tin foil, tightly wrapped at the edges.

  6. Step 6

Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 6 hours. Cooking on high will result in a nicely browned turkey.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have fresh rosemary, cut a sprig and place it on the bottom of the crockpot. The flavor will infuse the turkey.
  • Use the drippings in the crockpot to make a traditional turkey gravy. If you're short on time, use a package mix for gravy, or a bottle of prepared gravy.
  • The potatoes may be served whole, or they may be mashed with milk and butter for a more traditional meal.
  • If you cook on low, you may need to place the turkey in a 425 degree oven for a few minutes to brown the skin.
