If you are a Lego enthusiast, then sooner or later you'll probably have the desire to expand your collection. As such, there are a variety of ways of purchasing Legos, but depending on your needs some ways are better than others. This guide will show you the best ways to find and buy the Lego parts/sets you need!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer with internet
  1. Step 1

If you're looking to buy current official Lego sets, the best method is still going to the store or shopping at online websites such as Lego.com, Amazon.com, etc. Prices are competitive and there is little or no risk. If you want to see exactly what you're getting in each set or if your hunting for specific pieces, Peeron.com is very useful. It is a compilation of every Lego set ever made with inventories for each one, complete with pictures.

  2. Step 2

If you're looking to find specific pieces while minimizing cost, Bricklink.com is king. This is the ultimate online marketplace for Legos. You can buy virtually any individual Lego piece or Lego set you desire, even if Lego stopped producing it years ago. Simply type in the name of the piece (use peeron.com for the exact name or part #) or set # you're looking for and a list of results will be displayed from lowest price to highest. Click on the seller's link and it will direct you to their own personal inventory in which you can shop for other pieces if desired. Since Bricklink.com is a compilation of individual sellers, finding everything you need from a single seller can be a challenge, but it's definitely worth the effort.

  3. Step 3

Another option is Legoeducation.com. They have some good values on individual or assortments of parts for technic/mindstorms builders. However, a lot of their merchandise is meant for classroom type activities so their selection is very limited. I found a few good deals there for pneumatic pieces.

  4. Step 4

For the hardcore robotics guys, websites like HiTechnic.com and Venier.com have a lot of great sensors and other advanced parts that can't be found on Bricklink, although the Venier sensors require a special adaptor.

  5. Step 5

As a last resort, in my opinion at least, go to Ebay.com. It's possible to find better deals on Ebay than at Bricklink, but it's rare, and the risk is higher.
