Have you ever Google'd yourself? You know, pulled up Google, Yahoo, Lycos or some other search engine and typed in your name. If you haven't ever Google'd yourself or haven't done it lately, you should really give it a try!

Step 1

The first thing you need to do to Google yourself is to sign on to your computer and then pull up Google. Simply type in your name and see what's there! If you have a relatively common name, type in something else specific about yourself such as your city or where you work. Try all sorts of combinations that pertain to you and what makes you unique.
Step 2

After the Google results come up, click on each of the links that you think are YOU. Or, if there's someone with the same name who is not you, why not check them out to see what they're all about! But then go back to the links that you think are YOU and read each of them.
Step 3

Why it's important to know what is being said about you online: Today, anyone can do a free background check on you simply by Googling your name! It's very important to know what the information super highway has to say about you. You'll certainly want to know what others know about you.

Tips & Warnings

Google your pen name, too, if you have one.
If you find something online about yourself that is objectional, contact the website directly to see if they can remove your name from the website.
