If you want fresh peanut butter and want to be in charge of its flavor, you can easily make peanut butter at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Roasted Peanuts (2 Cups)
  • Peanut Oil (1 1/2 Teaspoons, or more for smoother peanut butter)
  • A Food Processor
  1. Step 1

If the peanuts aren't roasted then you will need to put them in the oven and roast them.

  2. Step 2

If the peanuts have shells, then you need to remove them and the peanut skins. You want the peanuts only.

  3. Step 3

Place the peanuts in a durable food processor. It should have a strong motor and metal blades. If you are using a cheap blender you could break it because peanuts are hard.

  4. Step 4

Start blending the peanuts and pour in the peanut oil. If you want to use olive oil for a healthier peanut butter, go ahead. The more oil you add the smoother the peanut butter will be. If you add too much, it will get oily.

  5. Step 5

At this point, if you want a nutty variation, you can add in other roasted nuts such as a few almonds to make an almond/peanut butter mix, or try adding some roasted soybeans. Be sure to add oil accordingly.

  6. Step 6

    Blend to the desired consistency.

  7. Step 7

Optionally, you can add cinnamon, sugar or salt. Just follow your taste buds. You can even add a little molasses or honey.

  8. Step 8

You now have your own peanut butter. You might not have saved much money over store-bought peanut butter (unless you bought the peanuts in bulk), however your peanut butter is fresher and you have complete control over the taste. Plus, you and your kids won't be eating any preservatives!
