Things You'll Need:
- Dental floss
- Strong stomach
-
Step 1
Talk to your child and let them know what you are going to do and that it will only take a second. It should not hurt. Make sure the tooth is ready. The best way I can explain the readiness of a tooth is: if your child can twist it all the way around and it is leaning to one side, it's ready.
-
Step 2
Take a piece of dental floss (long piece 10 inches or so) and create a loop, slip this loop over your childs tooth and tighten.
-
Step 3
Once secure, they can pull it out themselves (this is how my daughter prefers it) or you can pull on the dental floss yourself. Give it a slight pull. The tooth should come right out.

on 6/23/2009 Thank you for this tip! I just spent the last ten min. torturing my son trying to grip his little tooth. It was well over due and his big tooth was already up behind it. I got frustrated and did a quick internet search on how to pull out baby tooth. I came across this, went in the bathroom for the floss, and made a tiny loop. The tooth popped out just like you said pain free.

on 4/17/2009 My 5-yr old has lost his first bottom two, now we're working on the top ones! Dental floss...I never thought of it! (DUH!) What a great article about loose teeth! 5* Recommended

on 4/17/2009 Just last night my granddaughter came to me with her tooth loose, but not enough so I told her to go home and eat and apple and we can pull it tonight! I think I will try this method. Hadn't thought of dental floss. 5*
