How to Send A Text Message To Verizon Customer Through Gmail

Send text messages free by using Gmail instead of the cellphone.

For those without free text messages included with their cellphone plans, each text costs, and those small account charges can really add up. For sending messages, however, you can use an email service such as Gmail to send text messages at no cost to you. Besides being free, using a computer and Gmail may make typing the message go quite a bit faster.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Gmail account.

2. Type "[e-mail]" in the "To" field, replacing "phonenumber" with the person's actual cellphone number. So if you were sending a text to someone with the phone number 543-543-5432 it would look like this: [e-mail].

3. Type in your text message, observing the 160-character limit, and press "Send." If the recipient is unfamiliar with your Gmail address, you may want to leave your full name at the bottom.
