Things You'll Need:
- Bill of Sale.
- Car Title.
- For Sale signs.
-
Step 1
You will need to determine how much you are willing to accept for the car and then set your asking price a thousand dollars higher than that. This will give you a little negotiation room. Be sure to never advertise the bottom dollar you are willing to take because someone may come along that would have paid more.
-
Step 2
If you have a little time to play with, you should start advertising your car immediately. This will get the word out that you have a car for sale and will hopefully get you a few prospects. You will want to advertise in as many places as possible because this increases exposure and therefore, you will get better results. There are tons of places you can advertise online. Some of these sites are free, while others charge a fee once the car sells. You may also want to check into advertising in your local Car Trader or local newspaper classifieds. These publications are usually distributed weekly so you will not have to wait too long for your ad to appear. There will be links in the resource section below to help you get started with your advertising campaign.
-
Step 3
Be sure to get a For Sale sign or two and place on your car. It is important to park your car in a place that is easily visible for traffic. The signs should have your contact information and be placed where they can be seen. I recommend putting a few facts on the For Sale sign such as the mileage, year, and any selling points. Do not include the price, as this could deter prospective buyers from calling.
