How to Remove Hair Glue

Hair glue is perhaps the most simple way to attach hair extensions to your natural hair. The major downfall of hair glue is that it can make an unpleasant, not to mention embarrassing, mess in your hair. There are products available that are made specifically for removing hair glue, but they are often expensive. Before you go out and spend your money on specialty items, try using this technique, which costs a fraction of the price.

Things You'll Need

  • Baby oil
  • Conditioner
  • Shampoo
  • Brush
  • Hair dryer

    • 1

Rub baby oil on the hair glue. Massage it into your hair and scalp. If you still have hair extensions in, the baby oil will make it so the extensions easily slide off.

    • 2

Blow your hair with the hair dryer on high heat. The combination of the oil and heat will help release the bond of the glue.

    • 3

Apply conditioner to your hair as you normally would in the shower. Be sure to vigorously rub it in the hair glue. Let the conditioner sit in your hair for five minutes.

    • 4

Rinse your hair with warm water, and gently pull the hair glue out. Brush your hair to help remove glue and tangles.

    • 5

Apply shampoo to your hair, and rinse it out as normal. Feel for chunks of hair glue, and pull them out if possible.

    • 6

Repeat the process if hair glue still remains in your hair. It can sometimes take multiple attempts before completely removing the glue.
