Step 1
You can start by making sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. Updates are being created all the time, so make sure when you are prompted to upgrade take advantage and do so.

Try cleaning out your computer's temporary files. Your computer automatically stores things in these files just from tracking your everyday movement or browsing on your computer. Those temporary files can easily be deleted.

Look at the top of you screen and click on "Tools". Once that drops, click in "Internet Options". Next, under the "General" tab look down to Browsing History. Here, you will see the option to delete these files. Go ahead and click delete. It also offers you the option of deleting files upon your exit, if you wish check that box so you won't have to worry about slowing down again.

Now check your files that you have saved from homework, business, or just leisure activity that you no longer need. Delete these items to free up more space for your computer to operate.

Also you can check your computer for programs that you do not use and delete them. Click the "start" to go to your "control panel". Once at your "control panel", click "add or remove programs", here you can remove any unused or unwanted programs. This will help you download faster also.

Also, you may need to upgrade you internet connection. If you are using a dial up connection, you must realize that it takes longer to download anything not to mention a song or whole album. It you can afford it upgrade to a cable or DSL.

If all else fails take your computer to a professional you may have a virus so that they may remove and restore your computer altogether.
