Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Quick reflexes
  • Strength
  1. Step 1

You can usually tell if someone is going to faint by the way they look. Their eyelids may droop and they become unsteady. Some people faint dead away quickly, but most give a few clues and in nearly all of these it is fairly easy to tell that a fainting spell is just seconds away.

  2. Step 2

Move quickly to stop the person from falling. This is especially important if the person is fainting in a dangerous areas; around sharp-edged furniture or inside a store, etc.

  3. Step 3

Once the person is safely to the ground, make sure they are reclining on their back and raise their legs. In most cases the person will revive in just a few seconds, others may take a minute or more.

  4. Step 4

Once he's regained consciousness, raise him up gently and gradually. Do not allow the person who has fainted to try to quickly get back up. Doing so may cause another fainting spell.

  5. Step 5

Should the person remain unconsciousness for more than a couple of minutes, it is time to seriously consider getting medical help.
