Step 1
Before you begin writing your official letter to the First Lady take the time to jot down your thoughts on a piece of paper. Determine what topic you would like to cover in your letter. You should only focus on one topic per letter. If you have two topics you would like to elaborate on then you need to write two separate letters.

You should type your letter rather than hand writing it. Not only is this more professional but you can also utilize the spell and grammar check on your word processor to ensure that your letter has no spelling errors.

Format your letter like you would a business letter. Do not write Dear. Michelle. You should always write Dear First Lady. Please respect her title and use it appropriately.

You must send your letter to the correct address. It should be sent to the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington DC 20500.

Once you have completed writing your letter you should use your spell check. You should then have a friend or family member proof read the letter for you. It is better to have someone double check your letter rather than send it with errors.

Once your letter is complete you should sign your name to it and place it in an envelope. Make sure you address it properly, include your return address and don't forget to make sure you have included proper postage.

Now you can send your letter off to First Lady Michelle Obama. Who knows you may even get a response back!
