How to Decorate a Room with Accents of Red

Red is a color that screams "Notice Me!" It is also a color that symbolizes passion, love, vitality and luck. So adding touches of red to a room can wake it up and enegergize it! Here are a few easy ways how to bring out the red!

1. To start, try red on the walls. You can be bold and paint the entire room this fiery shade! There are many shades on the market to chose from. Take a chance with a bright apple red or be more subdued with a rich, darker red. Either way, you are making a statement!

   If you want a way to add red to the wall without painting, try some artwork that has red in it like the painting shown for example. The red flowers add some pop and the blue background offers contrast.

   Another way to inject red into a room is through accessories. A throw pillow in a vibrant tomato color works well. Or a red blanket placed behind colorful pillows is a good way to add red to the sofa and brighten up your neutrals.

   Another accessory option is a vase. They are so inexpensive. You can find colorful glass vases at most Dollar Stores. Add another bright color, such as yellow daisies, and you're officially taking a walk on the wild side (of color!)

• Try red in places where there is a lot of energy such as offices, living rooms and kitchens. For bedrooms and bathrooms go for calming neutrals.
