It is good to have an end toward which to journey; but it's the journey that matters in the end. Sometimes we are all consumed with the end result that we forget to stop for a minute and enjoy the ride. What makes your "ride" more enjoyable?

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Make time for fun
  • Don't take yourself or others too seriously
  • Practice random acts of kindness/pay it forward
  1. Step 1
    R U A Busy B?

    R U A Busy B?

We all can get busy with the hectic pace of every-day life and the events in which we're called to fully participate. Recognizing when to pull the plug, so-to-speak, on the "busy-ness" of all these commitments will afford you the opportunity to focus on what it is that YOU really want for yourself. Don't confuse this with what OTHERS want from and for you; it has to be what YOU ultimately want for YOURSELF.

  2. Step 2
    Pack a Picnic!

    Pack a Picnic!

Slow down the pace and take a picnic lunch to the park with your kids and just let them PLAY! There are so many "structured" activities these days for our kids, why not just let them be "kids" for a little while a few times a week if you can? The piano lessons, homework, chores, soccer/basketball/dance classes can wait! Give yourself permission to break the rules a little! Maybe surprise the family, and do the picnic during the evening instead; or after a family function. It's good memory-making, bonding moments such as these that your kids recall fondly later in life. If you fear there's a chance of their forgetting such moments, jot down a few sentences in their keepsake journals!

  3. Step 3
    Re-live Great Memories

    Re-live Great Memories

Fast forward in your mind to your final hours on this Earth. What is it you want to remember? Deadlines that were met? Hours put in at work? All the cobwebs you kept out of the dark corners of your home? You get my drift here; taking the time to make memories NOW will ensure happy recollections later in life! I heard once something to the effect of, "Make great memories now so when you're old and reflecting on your life, you will enjoy them the second time as well."
