Things You'll Need:
- Internet
-
Step 1
Check out OfficialPetHotels.com. You can search for pet-friendly hotels by city (look for the icon that says they've verified the pet policy of a hotel directly). They've also got a page of travel tips that's worth the read.
-
Step 2
At DogFriendly.com you can find a list of major hotel chains that offer pet accommodations like Best Western, La Quinta, Holiday Inn, and Choice Hotels. There are city guides that offer additional listings for smaller inns and lodges, and even a section for International Pet-friendly lodging. Check out their off-leash dog park guide so you can plan an excursion tailor-made for your pooch.
-
Step 3
1ClickPetHotels.com is a one-stop shop directory of hotels, motels, and resorts that are dog (and cat) friendly. Check out their travel links for tips, guidelines and fun things to do with your pet on your next vacation.

on 9/5/2009 This is great advice with lots of nice resources for finding pet friendly spots! Even our large and fuzzy girl has been welcomed at many hotels and vacation rentals, for which we are most grateful. Thanks for the links!

on 2/1/2009 Added to my favorites - so helpful! Always looking for new places to visit and bring my little puppy. She is part of the family now and I can't just leave her home alone :)

on 1/28/2009 I usually stay at Holiday Inn Express - have even found a few Hiltons that will allow a small dog. Great reference sites.
