This is how to brew GREAT French press coffee in 7 very simple steps. French press is one of the most flavorful, smooth ways to make delicious coffee. French Press is my favorite way to make coffee.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A French Press
  • Cool Mug
  • Tea Pot
  • Freshly Ground Coffee
  • Table Spoon
  1. Step 1
    Boil Water
     
    Boil Water

    Boil 6oz. of cold, filtered water for every cup of coffee you want to brew. Most french presses are 2, 4 or 8 cups.

  2. Step 2
    Grind the Coffee
     
    Grind the Coffee

    Coarsely grind one tablespoon of grounds for every cup. Make sure its not regular drip grind and grind it right before you brew to preserve the flavor.

  3. Step 3
    Add Grinds

    Once the water reaches a boil, let it cool slightly(10-15sec) while you add the grounds to the press pot.

  4. Step 4

    Add the hot water and stir.

  5. Step 5

    Let it steep for 4-7 minutes before pressing.

  6. Step 6
    Filter Grinds

    After sitting, slowly push down on the plunger. If pushing becomes to hard pull up slightly and then continue pushing down, slow and steady.

    Pour into a glass that is worthy of such an ambrosial beverage and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • The target water temp is 195º-205º if you want to get technical.
  • Make sure you coarsely grind the coffee right before brewing
  • If the water is too hot when added it can make the coffee bitter.
  • Don't burn yourself!
