Research shows that more people are developing skin infections from MRSA. MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus) is an antibiotic-resistant bacteria that is found in everyday places like gyms and schools. To avoid MRSA follow these tips.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soap
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Lotion
  1. Step 1

The best way to avoid MRSA is by washing with soap and water. MRSA is usually transmitted by everyday touching. Make sure to wash your hands in hot, soapy water for at least 20 seconds. To avoid MRSA use a hand sanitizer frequently when you're not near a sink.

  2. Step 2

It's harder to avoid MRSA in the winter months. MRSA can enter your body through small cracks caused by winter dryness. To avoid MRSA during winter months, use a moisturizer made with glycerin or petroleum especially after washing your hands. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula and Eucerin Plus are good lotions to use for avoiding MRSA.

  3. Step 3

To avoid MRSA make sure to cover open blisters and pimples.

  4. Step 4

People are more vulnerable to MRSA when they have the flu. Get a flu shot each year to avoid MRSA.

  5. Step 5

To avoid MRSA use disinfecting wipes on all the gym equipment you use. Bring your own towel, flip flops, and yoga mat to the gym.

  6. Step 6

If you are involved with contact sports, make sure to shower and wash areas on your body that have made contact with others.

  7. Step 7

Wash all clothing, bed linens, and towels in hot water if you come in contact with anyone who has MRSA.

MRSA is a skin infection that is red, swollen, painful, and warm to the touch. There may also be a fever. See you doctor right away if you suspect you have MRSA. If MRSA is caught early, the skin infections heal quickly without causing serious bone and blood infections.
