Finding the money to go on that trip around the world you always wanted can be pretty difficult, but a few tips and strategies can make it happen much faster.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start a trip savings jar (or bank account). Make a commitment to put a certain amount of money into the jar every week, say $20.

  2. Step 2

Every time you come home with loose change or bills in your pocket put those into the jar as well. Even small amounts of change add up in the long run. A quarter every day for a year turns into more than $70.

  3. Step 3

Cut down your spending on frivolous items. Make a point of dining in more often, cook yourself cheap meals like pasta and rice and use that extra money to fund your trip.

  4. Step 4

Have side project or hobby (besides your job) that pulls in small amounts of cash. Make and sell your art or jewelry at a farmer's market, start a blog that pulls in money from its advertising, rent a room in your house out, cut your friends' hair for cheap etc.

  5. Step 5

Sell some of your belongings you could do without to local thrift stores or online. Do you need as many clothes as you have? Do you never use your old computer?

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that it's the little things that add up in the long run
