Things You'll Need:
- A Sweetheart
- Imagination
-
Step 1
If the weather permits it where you live, celebrate Valentine’s Day outdoors this year.
Go for a scenic stroll along the beach, take a long walk around the park or explore a part of town you’ve never explored before. Check out your local paper listings for street fairs, home tours, fireworks displays, musical events, etc. Pack a lunch and perhaps a bottle of wine. Here are some high, quality cheap wines; Twin Fin Pinot Noir 2004 for approximately $10.00, Little Penguin Merlot 2004 about $7.99, Charles Shaw Wines “Two-Buck Chuck” about $1.99. Bring a blanket and a camera and take some sexy pictures of each other. The sum of nature and wine equals Valentine’s Day romance. -
Step 2
If you’d like to spend Valentine’s Day indoors but not at home here are some ideas; museums, antique stores, used-book stores even going to the movies. If you do go to the movies on Valentine’s Day don’t forget to sit in the back row and make out the entire time. A drive-in movie is also a good place for some good-old fashioned romantic groping. You can bring your own food and some of that cheap wine I discussed above. Of course, don’t drink and drive, but do have a drink and a make-out session. Go to car dealerships and test-drive the fastest, most expensive, exotic, rare cars they have. Take note of this ladies; especially if your man is a car buff.
-
Step 3
If you’re renting movies at home be sure to consider the following titles; 9 ½ Weeks, The Notebook, Amelie, The Way We Were, and of course Love Story. Defying convention can also be romantic (make sure your guy or girl is into it) and rent horror or action flicks. Wear your Valentine’s Day boxers or your lingerie with the tiny little, red hearts and make each other scrambled eggs, hamburgers, sloppy joe’s, pancakes and so on. The point is to be in close proximity half naked. Turn up the music and dance, take turns dancing with each other or even stage a karaoke competition where the winner gets a special Valentine’s Day prize.
-
Step 4
In conclusion, I think it’s unfortunate that Valentine’s Day is so commercialized. For many people it boils down to getting the standard chocolate – flowers combo and taking their loved one out to dinner. I think on Valentine’s Day people should really think about those things, quirks and personality traits that make them unique and pick Valentine’s Day activities based on those considerations. Ladies if your man is an aviation junkie visit an aviation museum. Guys, if your girl is an animal lover volunteer with her at the local animal shelter. Candle lit dinners are fun and romantic but sipping wine together in your tub, after you’ve had a BBQ or cooked together in the kitchen can be just as romantic not to mention easier on your wallet.
