Make a Double Boiler From Pots You Already Have

If you are wanting to make something which requires a double boiler, there is no need to go out and buy one. There is an easy solution that can use things you already have. All you will need is 2 pots or pans that you never use.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 different size pots
  • Water
  • Something to heat or melt
  1. Step 1

Find two pots that you don't use very much, one needs to be able to sit inside the other. They don't have to be a certain size or shape, one just needs to sit inside the other.

  2. Step 2

Fill the larger pot with water. Place the larger pot on the stove and bring the water to a boil.

  3. Step 3

Place the smaller pot inside the larger one before the water begins to boil. Take the same precautions you would as if you were pulling something out of the oven. The stove and double boiler will be very hot.

  4. Step 4

Place whatever you want to heat or melt inside the smaller pot. You have now made a cheap and effective double boiler.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to find a pot that you don't use much for the smaller one.
  • Use pot holders or some other type of heat resistant material when handling the double boiler.
  • Please be careful. Take the same precautions you would as if you were pulling something out of the oven. The stove and double boiler will be very hot.
