Things You'll Need:
- 8" square cake pan
- 8" round cake pan
- Cake mix
- frosting mix
- cake plate or tray

Step 1
Pick up your favorite cake mix and frosting mix from the grocery store. Plan to bake your cake a day ahead.

Grease and flower one square 8" cake pan and one round 8" cake pan.

Step 3
Mix cake mix according to package directions and divide it between the two cake pans you've prepared.

Bake cake and cool according to package directions. Be to turn your cakes out onto a cake rack to cool completely.

When your cakes are completely cooled put them on a cookie sheet and place in the freezer for at least 2 hours. You will be able to work with them more easily if you freeze them, but just chilling them very well helps immensely.

Diagram Heart CakeRemove the cakes from the freezer, brush the crumbs off and place the square one on the tray. Cut the round cake in half and place the cut sides against the square.

Step 7
Now you're ready to frost it with your favorite frosting and decorate to your hearts content.
