1
Purchase sterling silver beads or pendants from a craft store or online. Be aware that sterling silver can be somewhat expensive. More intricate, elaborately designed beads will be higher in price than basic ones, so consider your options prior to purchasing the beads. Pendants will also vary in price; larger sized pendants will cost more than small ones.

2
Lay out your materials on your work surface. Once you start working, you won't want to open packages and tamper with setting things up. Pour your beads into a small bowl so that you can keep them together and access them easily while you make the necklace.

Decide whether you would like to make your necklace with cord, wire or fishing line. Each type will add its own interest to your necklace, so consider how the final product will look when completed. Measure out the desired length of material and cut it with scissors or wire cutters.

4
String the sterling silver beads or pendant onto the line. If you want to add color and contrast, try adding colored beads between each of the silver ones. Add interest to the pendant by placing beads on both sides. Continue until you have finished your necklace.

5
Attach the clasp to the end of the necklace. String the clasp parts on both sides of the necklace by looping the cord, fishing line or wire through the hole. If using wire, trim the excess with wire clippers once the clasps are firmly attached. To ensure that the clasps stay attached to the cord and fishing line, tie a knot and secure it with a drop of instant glue. Trim excess material with scissors.
