If the person was calling on a land line, use the Reverse Lookup or Reverse Phone Lookup features for free at whocalled.us (note the domain), whitepages.com, at yellowpages.com, or at switchboard.com. (No, the author of this article is not affiliated with any of them.) With at least one of these sites, you can find their name, address, and certain other publicly available demographic information.

However, you may be able to deduce who is calling you by using the reverse lookup module for free and finding out the location where they are calling from and figuring out who you know from that location.
