Things You'll Need:
- Ingredients for your Favorite Meal
- Your Favorite Flowers and/or Favorite Valentine Candy
- Your Favorite Romantic comedies
- Single Friends of the Same Sex (optional)
- Single Friends of the Opposite Sex (optional)
-
Step 1
When Valentine's Day rolls around so many singles begin to get the blues simply because they think being happy on this one particular holiday requires that they be in relationship bliss. Not True! You simply have to be your own Valentine.
-
Step 2
To be the best Valentine for yourself, the entire holiday has to be about lil ole' you. Your likes, your wants, your needs. The first thing you need to decide is what kind of Valentine your going to be to yourself. Are you going to be an outgoing Valentine or a stay at home romantic Valentine.
-
Step 3
If your going to be a stay at home romantic Valentine your going to need to do some legwork. The day before Valentine's day, plan out your all time favorite meal and hit the store to pick up everything you will need to make it. (Only get enough for you, a bunch of left overs will just depress you) Schedule your favorite flowers and Valentine's candy to be delivered to your door compliments of the hottest actor or actress you can think of. (Hey, it's your card make it say whatever you want)
-
Step 4
While your out pick up a small bottle of your favorite wine and at least 4 of your favorite romantic comedies. (Skip the tragedies all together)Go for light hearted movies that just leave you feeling good. It doesn't even have to be a romance if comedy or action is more your style go with what will leave you happy.
-
Step 5
When you begin making your Valentine's night dinner pop one of your movies in so you can live vicariously as you cook. Continue to watch your movies as you enjoy your dinner and wine while you gaze occasionally at the lovely flowers Brad sent you behind Angelina's back.
-
Step 6
Optional: If you have single friends of the same sex a girls or guys night in might be just the ticket. Follow the steps above as a group. The flowers can be especially fun if each of you "Secret Valentine's" the others and makes the surprise hottie actor/actress card. It's certainly fun for boasting at your group dinner and a movie.
-
Step 7
If you find staying in just isn't for you get creative. Get decked out and spend the evening out on the town. Head for your towns hot spots, or your favorite restaurant. Try taking a dance class (yes, they do allow singles through the front door)you might just get a hottie for a partner. You never know what other singles might be out and about too. You might even bump into next year's Valentine, or Brad out buying my flowers. (It could happen!)
-
Step 8
Optional: If you have single friends, have a guy's/gal's night out on the town. Hey, you might even bump into each other! (A little internet matchmaking)
-
Step 9
Optional: If your a single guy, or girl and you have a really good single friend of the opposite sex, whether there is anything between you or not, you two can agree ahead of time to be each others "stand-in" Valentine. Get flowers/candy for each other and take turns watching your favorite movies together. Or go out on the town for a very comfortable "date" with someone you already know you get along with. Hold hands, hug and "stand-in" for your pals.
