How to select the correct brush for your dogs or cats is very important. It is essential that you choose the right one, because inappropriate brushes could actually damage your pets coat.Brushing reduces the risk of your pet biting and eating the fur causing hairballs from ingested hair which can make your pet sick.

Instructions
  1. Step 1
     

    For the SHORT SMOOTH COATS[most retrievers,hounds,chihuahuas,etc.;short haired cats.]The soft to medium bristle brush with short,closely spaced bristles is the proper brush for this type of coat.Brush with the grain - meaning the growth pattern of the coat. SHORT WIRY COATS. [terriers,etc.]your choice will be the firm bristle brush,closely spaced bristles;slicker brush.Brush with the grain of the coat.

  2. Step 2
     

    MEDIUM TO LONG FLOWING COATS[Golden retrievers,Lhasa Apso,spaniels,setters,etc;long-haired cats]The soft to medium bristle brush with long,medium to wide-spaced bristles;wire pin brush;slicker brush for mats and tangles,and as usual brush with the grain of the coat.

  3. Step 3
     

    HARSH OUTER COATS WITH SOFT,WOOLLY UNDERCOATS [Sheepdogs,Collies,shepherds,Chow Chows,Pomeranians,etc.The best selection of brush would be the firm bristle brush with long,wide-spaced bristles;wire pin brush;slicker brush for mats and tangles.Outer coat- with the grain;Undercoat-against the grain.

  4. Step 4
     

    THIN,DELICATE COATS[Yorkshire Terriers,Maltese]Wire pin brush;soft slicker brush for tangles and mats.Gentle,delicate strokes with and against the grain to prevent damage to the coat.

Tips & Warnings
  • For general care and upkeep of your brush,regardless of the type,remove the accumulated hair after each brushing.Get a new brush if bristles are missing.
