Step 1
VegetablesChange the types of foods that you purchase. Use your coupons to save on prepackaged items, or any consumable item that is truly on sale. Watch your email in box and physical mail box for any coupons off the total of your grocery order. For example, if you are on Publix grocery store's mailing list they send out $ 5 coupon off $ 30 or more.
-
Step 2
Decide to try something different. Look for a discount scratch and dent grocery store. The complete selection usually changes every week. You may have to drive a bit, if there is one in your area. Use this location to stock up on items that are truly a savings over your local grocer.
-
Step 3
Mixed Cooked GreensLearn how to cook with vegetables. Prepare dishes that do not include meat as the main course.
-
Step 4
Home Cooked MealTake more time out of your day, to prepare food. A prepared meal with some thought put into it, is better than a fast food meal, or overpriced local diner. Waking up fifteen minutes earlier can be time spent to prepare your evening meal, lunches, and a home made breakfast.
-
Step 5
BlenderUse all of the kitchen gadgets that you own. Perhaps you have a rice cooker, use it. Let over rice can be made into rice cakes and stir fried rice with left over meats and vegetables. Dig deep into your cupboards. Perhaps you have a crock pot, juicer, bread machine, food processor, blender, smoothie maker, or deep fryer.
-
Step 6
Recipe IngredientsSearch regularly online for recipes. Use the recipe books you already own. Before throwing out any fashion or women's magazines, cut out any recipe that catches your eye.
-
Step 7
SoupEmbrace Soup. Soup is filling, cheap, and flavorful. Visit your local farmers markets and road side stands. Any day you feel up to cooking, make a batch of soup and freeze it. If you find a fantastic deal on raw fruits and raw vegetables chop them, and freeze for later use.
-
Step 8
Eat salads often. Every three days chop vegetables for your salads. Keep these chopped pieces in sealed containers. This will allow you to be able to quickly put together a salad to eat at home, or take with you for lunch or as a snack.
-
Step 9
Experiment with easy to grow herbs and quick growing vegetables. Successfully growing a few food items, may give you the confidence to start a small garden.
