Tired of boring cardio?

Learn how to take fat burning to the next level with interval training.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have you ever noticed people at the gym killing themselves to burn off the fat with long boring sessions of cardio? Stop wasting your time. Research shows that interval training is much more effective at burning more calories in a shorter period of time than cardio.

  2. Step 2

Find an exercise you like whether it be cycling, hiking, treadmill, stair climber, etc. You can do interval training with just about any exercise. You can even switch it up and use different pieces of equipment to give you some variation.

  3. Step 3

The key to interval training is changing the intensity frequency. A simple way to do it would be to start at a slower pace then rapidly increase to a fast pace for a short burst of time then go back to a slow pace again. Keep repeating this step until you've worked out for about 15 minutes or whatever you can handle.

Now you're on your way to burning more calories and losing the fat.

  4. Step 4

To give you a better idea of how to burn more calories with interval training I will use the treadmill as an example. Raise the treadmill inclination angle to the highest level. Start out at a slow manageable speed.

Walk at that speed for about 2 minutes. Now increase the speed to a fast walk or running speed and try to do it for 30-45 seconds. Bring the speed back down to a slow walking speed and catch your breath. Try to repeat this again in 2 minutes for some serious calorie burning. You want to try and shoot for a 15 minute workout like this.

  5. Step 5

Don't belong to a gym? That's no excuse. Take the dog for a walk and do it with the dog. He won't mind the extra exercise. You can interval train with your kids by making a game out of it. What kid doesn't like to run around? Go hiking and do it. There should be no reason why you can't do it just about anywhere and burn more calories at the same time.

  6. Step 6
    weight loss

Don't be too hard on yourself if you are struggling with interval training at first. Interval training really pushes your body to new levels. I guarantee that you will be burning more calories and be too exhausted to be bored with it.
