Things You'll Need:
- Yard, garden with trees and bushes
- Peanut butter, sunflower seeds, shelled peanuts, suet
- Grapes and apples (optional)
- Hopper or platform feeder
-
Step 1
Titmice vary their diet when not many insects are available during winter. Tufted titmouse enjoy eating seeds, berries, acorns, nuts, and suet. They love sunflower seed, too.
-
Step 2
Throughout the year, particularly in winter, hang hopper feeders near trees with black oil sunflower seeds and shelled peanuts. You can also put out grapes or apple wedges on a platform feeder. Peanut butter is extremely tempting to them, smear it on a tree trunk or on a platform feeder.
-
Step 3
Common backyard birdPlace nesting boxes mounted about 6-12 foot above the ground in your yard where there are trees. From March to July is when breed, so make sure that they see the birdhouse. In a suet holder, stuff some nesting materials and hang it near the birdhouse.
-
Step 4
Tufted titmouseTo attract more of these birds, add trees and bushes to your garden. Good choices are oaks, evergreens, grapes, bayberries, blueberries, blackberries, and sunflowers.
