Things You'll Need:
- 1 35 oz of peeled, imported Italian whole tomatoes
- McCormick Pizza Pie Seasoning
- Fresh Basil (Not required)
-
Step 1
Get a can opener and open the can of whole, peeled tomatoes.
-
Step 2
Pour them and their juices into a sturdy bowl. Crush with a mortar. If you don't have a mortar, then you can use a fork to crush them. By hand-crushing the tomatoes, you will have a nice, chunky pizza sauce.
-
Step 3
Once you have finished crushing the tomatoes to your liking, take some McCormick Pizza Pie seasoning and pour a good amount into the tomato sauce. If you can't find McCormick Pizza Pie seasoning, you can make your own by using black pepper, crushed basil leaves, granulated garlic, oregano and crushed marjoram.
-
Step 4
Finely chop 4 or 5 basil leaves. Add to the mix. Since fresh basil can be expensive, you can skip this step or substitute dried basil. However, the end result will be less tasty.
-
Step 5
Add salt to the mix.
-
Step 6
Spread the sauce on top of your pizza dough.
-
Step 7
One 35oz can will easily make enough sauce for 4 small pizzas. If you don't use all of the tomato sauce, put the extra sauce in a sealable container and refrigerate.
