Throw A Luau Party

The word "Luau" in Hawaiian means " feast". Luaus are parties for large groups of family and friends to get together. You could throw a luau just for a fun time with your friends or for a persons birthday party. Luaus are meant to be a fun way to celebrate or just have some fun. Here are some tips.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Whatever you decide
  1. Step 1

    Location and Theme
Naturally a Luau should be held outdoors, but make sure you have somewhere with an inside that is big enough in case you have to move things indoors away from the weather. Generally you should check the weather first before even planning the luau.

  2. Step 2

    Decorations
When your planning for the decor of a luau here are somethings you should think about. Think Hawaii as a tropical island. Its beautiful. They have coconuts, flowers, leis, grass skirts, hula dancers, and palm trees. There is a great start for some decorations to use for your luau.

  3. Step 3

    Food and Drink
Classic tropical cocktails like Daiquiris and Pina coladas are the perfect drinks for this tropical party. These drinks are usually alcoholic so if there are people there who are not able to drink then I would suggest to also offer these drinks non-alcoholic. But you can have other drinks as well. Anything that you would like really. Food wise, If you want itto look tropical think fruit. Bright colors and a variety.

  4. Step 4

    Fun and Games
Make sure you have tons of music. Hawaiian, tropical, and beach tunes. You want to have a variety so your not listening to the same things over and over. You can play lots of games. Limbo is one that is popular and easy to play and set up. You could play hot potato, but using a coconut instead of a potato.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask your guests to dress in Hawaiian shirts or dresses, shorts, sandals, and anything else they think would add to the theme.
  • Always check the weather
