Hi, I have a love for Saint Bernard's. I have owned many different types of dogs all of my life, but these large creatures are truly one of a kind. We own 2 rescued Saints Bernard's and 1 half saint/ shepherd.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pet beds
  • pet food
  • plenty of water
  • air condition
  • a good sense humor
  • lots of love
  1. Step 1
    Brutus, with HIS pillow.
    Brutus, with HIS pillow.

Saint Bernard's are big gentle giants, but don't think that you are going to train one. They will train you ! Our three have their own dog beds and their own couch. We have a king size bed for us. To kick them off our bed, at night is a joke. We wake up sleeping sideways or half upside down, and they are very comfortable sound asleep in the middle of our bed. One night the power went out and we had three Saint's in bed with us. Not sure if they are afraid of the dark. Now I know, you think that we are suckers.

  2. Step 2
Saints need lots of fresh water.

Brutus takes his pillow everywhere he goes, in the pasture, in the yard, in the house. Without it he is lost. Saint Bernard's require a lot of fresh drinking water and a air condition home. When its really hot, they stay in the house and camp out on a air condition vent. These big gentle giants also like their snacks and will let you know when they want one. Oh, never and I mean never leave food out on a counter. Trust me it will disappear. Never let them eat to much at one time. They can get a belly ache and become very sick.

Never leave valuables in low areas. Saints have huge tails that they love to wag, and things can end up on the floor. They are a very clam dog to have in the house, but love lots of attention and want to be cuddled. If they don't want you talking to someone, they will move themselves in between you and the other person. They will gently start leaning into you pushing you away from the other person.

Tips & Warnings
  • Needs lots of time and love.
  • never feed to much at one time.
