Cleaning out the lint trap in your home clothes dryer can make it run more efficiently. But did you know that lint gets trapped in the vent hose and pipe behind the dryer, too? This slows down the drying time of the machine. Here's how to clean out the clothes dryer vent and save money while you're at it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Carefully, pull the clothes dryer away from the wall. Be watchful to pull it straight out so as not to scratch the sides of the machine or the wall.

  2. Step 2

Unplug the electrical plug from the outlet. Then, disconnect the dryer's flexible hose that is connected to the vent in the wall.

  3. Step 3

Use a vent brush (purchase at hardware stores), to clean out the inside of the clothes dryer vent and flex hose.

  4. Step 4

Use your vacuum cleaner to further clean any remaining lint that is trapped inside.

  5. Step 5

Follow the above tips and save money with your clothes dryer. Also see the related articles and other information on this page for more helpful tips.
