Make a Dog First Aid Kit

Making a dog first aid kit is just as important as making a human first aid kit or survival kit. If you have pets then you will want them to be protected in the event of an accident during an outing or while playing in the yard. If these times of survival you will want to have a kit ready to grab if you have to evacuate your home for any reason! Making a dog, cat, or any animal first aid kit is very easy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First decide what container you want to use. I like the idea of a back-pack or a bug-out bag. This way it's easy to carry and keep in your car. You could also, use a tupperware bin or plastic container with a lid. This is nice because you can always dump it and use it for water. However, this is not very carry friendly but it will stack nicely in your vehicle.

  2. Step 2

Now you have to prepare for any accident that you can think of that may afflict your precious pet. Include the essential ingredients in your first aid kit and you will be ready for any emergency.

  3. Step 3

Basic Items for your pet first aid kit include:

    Blankets
    Muzzle
    Bandages
    Cotton Swabs
    Tweezers
    Scissors
    Eyedropper
Rectal Thermometer (Doggy temp. is 101-102 degrees Fahrenheit)
    Hydrogen peroxide
    Activated charcoal powder (induce vomiting)

Some invaluable Herbal Remedies to include:

    Calendula Ointment (antibiotic cream)
    Slippery Elm (diarrhea)

    Other items:

Nearby vet numbers and emergency poison control
    Flashlight
    Leash, Collar, Tie-Out
    Vitamins
    Collapsable water dish
    Extra cans of food
    Towel
