Set up the Ideal Environment for a Nintendo Wii Remote
Set up the Ideal Environment for a Nintendo Wii Remote

The remote controllers used with the Nintendo Wii make the Wii an amazing system. The Wii allows you to be active, to use motion and to use more than just your hand on mouse or keyboard, or even a traditional game controller. Still, the nature of the Wii remote, in the way that it senses motion via the Wii sensor bar can mean that you have to pay a little more attention when setting up Wii controllers than you do setting up traditional gaming controllers. Here’s how to create the idea environment for your Wii remote.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nintendo Wii
  • Wii Sensor Bar
  • Wii Remote
  1. Step 1

Securely attach the cord from your sensor bar to the back side of your Nintendo Wii console.

  2. Step 2

Carefully position the sensor bar centered above your t.v. screen or below it depending how you set it up during your initial configuration.

  3. Step 3

Insure that there is nothing in the way of an object blocking the signal between the sensor bar, the Wii console itself and your Wii remote.

  4. Step 4

Watch out for interference from other sources of infrared light. These can include, but are not limited to fireplaces, candles, stoves and even sunlight.

  5. Step 5

Check for interference interference from radio frequencies that can cause problems with the Wii sensor bar acting erratically. Check to see that other wireless equipment such as a wireless phone, a wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse or similar devices are turned off.

  6. Step 6

Check out the Wii Fix GUide if you are still having difficulty getting your Wii sensor bar to work right.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always use fresh batteries in your Wii remote. Rechargeable batteries often work best.
  • Use your Wii remote between 3 and 10 feet away from the television.
