Your cell phone may be of no more use to you, but it can do much to help others. Before you toss it away, think of donating it to an organization that can put it to good use. Below are three such organizations. It is not an exhaustive list, but it’s enough to get you started.

Step 1

Visit the American Cell Phone Drive.org website and insert your zip code to find the nearest donation center to you. Review the organization that will benefit from your old cell phone. If the search function returns have several locations where you can donate your cell phone and you’re having a difficult time in making a decision as to which one to use, take a look at the charities that will benefit from the cell phone. For instance, some sell phones are recycled, others are used in a youth ministries while others are used for local charities. Donate it to the cause that’s nearest and dearest to your heart.
Step 2

Cell Phone

Donate your phone to WADT.org (Women Are Dreamers Too). WADT accepts old cell phones that will be recycled, sold or refurbished. The proceeds go to programs that help victims of domestic violence. It funds are used to educate people about domestic violence, provide support for survivors and help to prevent domestic violence.
Step 3

Send your old cell phone to our troops by visiting the Cell Phones for Soldiers website. Just click on the “Donate a Phone” link and follow the instructions.
Step 4

Cell Phone

Erase the data from your cell phone. Make sure to erase any identifying information from your cell phone. Visit recellar.com and use the Free Data Eraser to remove your cell phone data.
