All the talk is about losing weight. While choosing to eat right, start to select foods that are low in cholesterol. Here are some easy ways to help you.

    Give up the fried foods. If you can't resist the American delicacy of fried chicken, choose the skinless chicken sold at major supermarkets. If you must have your fried chicken, carefully peel the skin and reduce the fat which will help to lower your cholesterol.

  2. Step 2

    Cook with olive oil, virgin or otherwise, instead of the canned fat southerners use. Other healthy cooking fat substitutes that will lower your cholesterol are sesame oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil or regular corn oil.

  3. Step 3

    Milk is expensive in the groceries now so why add to the cost the cholesterol? Try 2% low fat and once you get used to the taste of less fat in your milk, graduate down to the 1% fat milk. Your taste buds are amazing and will adjust to the taste of less fat and you will be healthier for the ascension.

  4. Step 4

    Eliminate red meat and get your proteins from dried beans and split peas. These legumes are easy on the budget and go a long ways in lowering your cholesterol. Soak the dried beans overnight for faster and tastier cooking.

  5. Step 5

    Check the saturated fat content in soft margarine. Choose the one that is labeled with the less saturated fat to help lower your cholesterol. Do not use butter and you will find yourself making the right choice to lower your cholesterol.

  6. Step 6

    These are easy steps you can take to help lower your cholesterol. Here is a freebie. Use only nonstick fry pans and this cooking utensil will help you to lower your cholesterol, as well. You will use need less fat when cooking because of the nonstick coating on the fry pan.
