Hit a Flop Shot
Hit a Flop Shot

The flop shot in golf is a much needed shot to have in ones arsenal when the ball needs to travel very high in the air, land on a very tight pin placement with very little roll. The shot is best performed with a high lofted club, such as a 60 % wedge.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

You should take a narrow stance, placing the ball in the middle or slightly forward of center, we are assuming that you have the correct grip, balance and posture. You should now open the club face.

  2. Step 2

Make a very lazy, wristey, relaxed swing. Set the wrist cock early and make sure and follow through to the target and don't let the club face turn over. The ball should come out high and land softly. Make sure to maintain good balance, keep the arms in and turn the torso through the shot.

  3. Step 3

The trick to this shot is to keep most of the weight on the back foot and don't let the weight move forward.
