President Barack Obama may have made the speech at the Inauguration, but the First Lady and the Obama girls made a statement! If it wasn't clear before the Obamas hit the campaign trail, there was no mistaking on it - Michelle Obama likes fashion. While her two inaugural dresses were made by little known (and certainly now, famous) designers, Malia and Sasha's adorable outfits came from J Crew. The coats were specially designed by Crewcuts for Sasha and Malia and aren't available to buy. That doesn't mean you can't still get their adorable look...read on for how to copy their Inaugural look.

Things You'll Need:

  • Pea Coat
  • Satin Ribbon
  • Fleece to make scarf
  • Coordinating gloves to match scarf
  1. Step 1
Girls Pea Coat from Target, $34.99

The Obama girls wore classic pea coats for their Dad's inauguration. But Sasha and Malia looked even more fashionable by adding a splash of color and a hint of glamour. The girls chose colorful coats: Malia wore a blue/periwinkle coat, while her little sister opted for pink. You can find coats very similar to the Obama girls' at places like Target or Gap. Don't worry about the details as much as the overall look and design of the coat.

  2. Step 2

Once you have your pea coat go to a fabric store and purchase a yard or two of 2 inch wide satin ribbon in a complimentary color to the coat. You're going to use the ribbon as a belt around the outside of the coat, similar to what the Obama girls were wearing. You'll notice that Sasha's sash didn't exactly match the color of her coat. While her coat was a light pink, the tie looked more like an orangish color. Be as creative as you want. If you get a white coat, use red satin ribbon or black, red also looks nice with purple or black.

  3. Step 3

The Obama girls kept warm with simple scarves. Don't get a scarf in the same color as your coat, it will go unnoticed and you're trying to make a fashion statement here! Malia wore a black scarf with her bright blue coat. White would also look beautiful. Sasha, again, complimented her light pink coat with orange-toned accessories. You can pick up a simple fleece scarf at any department store. You could make a fashion statement of your own, by buying a yard or two of fleece, cutting it to the width you want and wa-la you have a scarf. No need to even sew, because fleece won't fray.

  4. Step 4

Match your gloves with your scarf for a classic look. You don't want to go overboard on the colors so it's always best to match your scarf and gloves. Michelle Obama bought the green gloves and shoes she was wearing on Inauguration Day from J.Crew, once again stating she's looking for affordable, stylish, and classic pieces.
