Step 1
Go to www.craigslist.com and find your area by first selecting your state and then the city closest to you. This will filter out results that aren't near your proximity.

To list something for sale on craigslist, click post to classifieds in the upper left corner. After the page has opened, click the text that says for sale.

The next step is to select a category that fits the item you are selling.

Now you enter the item title and description. To be the most successful in selling your item, give very accurate descriptions of what it is you are selling and the condition that it is in. Another great way to show the buyer what they are looking at is through pictures. Take a few and upload them in the areas provided. I also recommend listing your phone number at the bottom if you would like to sell the item quickly. This is the easiest and most efficient way to contact someone.

Enter a price for the item you are selling. This is very important. You want to sell your item based on the price you bought it for and how used it is. Don't list something for an unfair price and expect to sell it.

Enter your email address in the boxes provided. Craigslist will send you an email to the address that you give them. Don't delete this email. You will need to follow the link to publish your article so it can be viewed by potential buyers.

Now that you have listed your item, keep your phone by you and check your email often. You will be surprised how fast you can sell something on this useful website.

After you sell your item on craigslist, follow the link in the email that craigslist has sent earlier. At the top, select delete. Congratulations! You have just successfully sold something on craigslist.
