When I was growing up 7Up cake was one of my favorite memories. Every year at the family Christmas party my Aunt Betty makes it...and I still run to make sure I can get a piece.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup veggie oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup 7-Up
  • TOPPING
  • 1 small box strawberry Jell-O
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 3-4 cups fresh sliced strawberries , drained
  • Cool Whip
  1. Step 1

    7Up Cake Recipe:
    Set oven to 350 degrees.
    Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
    Mix ALL cake ingredients together in a bowl, beat well until smooth
    Transfer cake batter to a prepared baking pan.

  2. Step 2

    Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until cake tests done.
    Cool, and invert cake onto a tray large enough to hold the cake.

  3. Step 3

    TOPPING
    Dissolve the jello powder completely in boiling water, with the sugar add in the COLD water, mix well.

  4. Step 4

    Poke holes all over cake with a straw.
    Drizzle the jello over entire top of cake.
    Place the strawberries slices evenly over and covering all the cake.
    Refrigerate cake for 2 or more hours.
    Just before serving, top cake with Cool Whip topping and extra strawberries. 7Up Cake!

on 1/21/2009 Sounds good. Last week I had my first root beer float cake. Who knew soda would be so good in cakes!
